East Central European Crisis Discourses in the Twentieth Century

A Never-Ending Story

In 2024, Balázs Trencsényi, Lucija Balikić, Una Blagojević, and Isidora Grubački co-edited a volume on East Central European Crisis Discourses in the Twentieth Century. Bringing together three of the editors, one of whom has in the mean time written a second book closely connected to the topic (Trencsényi: Intellectuals and the Crisis of Politics in the Interwar Period and Beyond, Oxord 2025), the event will not only present two books, but delve into the question of how intellectuals have responded to political crises across the 20th century, and how the language of crisis has shaped East Central European history.
