Ukraine: Economic Reforms and Foreign Affairs

Two years after the installation of a new government and the signing of the Association Agreement with the European Union, Ukraine still finds itself in a state of crisis. The war in Eastern Ukraine, fuelled by Russian support, is a serious impediment to stabilisation and due to its dire economic state, the country is still threatened by default. In the beginning of this year, the Minister of Economic Development and Trade, Aivaras Abromavicius, stepped back, criticising that reform efforts, especially in the field of anti-corruption were resisted by influential members of the Verkhovna Rada.

Under the heading “Economic Reforms and Foreign Affairs” Aivaras Abromavicius will give an assessment of the situation and perspectives of the Ukrainian economy, the current state of reforms and Ukraine’s international interlockings. The ensuing panel discussion will shed light on the internal and external factors that challenge and support Ukraine’s future developments.
